Roberto Diaz, MD, PhD, joins Emory’s Radiation Oncology Department
ATLANTA -- Roberto Diaz, MD, PhD, has joined Emory’s Radiation Oncology Department as assistant professor. Diaz comes to Emory from Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he completed his residency in radiation oncology, serving as chief resident for the past year.

Diaz has earned numerous grants for his research, which includes studies in recombinant peptides as biomarkers for metastatic breast cancer, assessment of cancer susceptibility to molecular targeted therapy, and receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors in brain tumors.

“Dr. Diaz brings a wealth of experience and energy to our team,” says Walter Curran, MD, chair of radiation oncology and medical director of the Emory Winship Cancer Institute. “His solid track record in innovative research and devotion to patient care will make an immediate positive impact on our multidisciplinary team approach.”

Diaz earned his medical degree and doctorate at New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Yale University School of Medicine and his residency training in radiation oncology at Vanderbilt. In 2008, he earned research awards from the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the Radiological Society of North America. He is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, The American College of Radiology and the Radiation Research Society, among other organizations.
